The John Greenleaf Whittier Bridge spans the Merrimack River. Built in 1954, this bridge carried the relocated U.S. Route 1 over the Merrimack River. Today it carries Interstate 95. The through arch-truss design of this bridge is a half-scale copy of the Bourne Bridge.
