A few photos from the monitor showing a few big deer seen on LBL during an infrared survey- normally conducted during February-March. Things that are warmer than the surrounding are look more white. Small limbs and leaves lose heat quickly after dark, while rocks and tree trunks hold heat for a few hours. Animals stick out like light bulbs in a field.
