New Year’s Dance at the “Y”
The Highland Family YMCA and USA Dance Inland Chapter #4012 sponsored the New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance. Ruben and Rita Aguilar, Co-organizers for the event were awarded a plaque for two years of dedicated service to the “Y”. Al Newman, YMCA Board Member gave the invocation to a crowd of 319 who attended the semi formal event.
Young dancers as old as seven, senior citizens, and lots of other people in between danced to the ballroom sounds of the Cha Cha, Salsa, Foxtrot, Waltz, Swing, Rumba, Bolero, Night Club Two-Step, Merengue, Sumba, Tango, and Disco! “DJ” Sal Soriano of the 1 MB DJ Service, kept everyone hopping, jumping, swinging, and dancing all night long.
Most of the dancers that came this evening converged from all over the Inland Empire. Some folks came just to watch the dancing and enjoyed the friendly alcohol free environment. Dr. Thelma Korpman, Chapter President addressed the group stating that the “purpose USA Dance was to promote Ballroom Dance” and encouraged everyone to be part of USA Dance!
