July 9th - We ate breakfast with the Aussies and one of the ladies was shaking. She said last night she was asleep and woke up when she felt someone sit down on the edge of her bed, lean in really close to her and lick her cheek. It really freaked her out cause there was no one there. After eating, we went to see their room, and they came up to see ours. From Ross Castle, we headed into Northern Ireland and made our way to Sligo and the Tobar Nalt Holy Well. Tobar Nalt is known to be a sacred place of the Celts, but the grove and its holy well were later taken over by St. Patrick and re-dedicated to Christianity. Just below the well itself, there is a healing stone with a depression at one end where you can lean your back for a cure of back pain. On top of this stone are four indentations, said to have been left by St. Patrick, and if you rest your fingers there some of the saint’s powers are transferred to you. After snatching some of St. Patrick's powers and tying some string to a tree, we were off to go further north to the Giant’s Causeway. Stopped at our B&B (Carnglass Farmhouse) first to stretch our legs and it turned out to be the best room so far! Very clean and pretty. Nice homey feel. On the advice of the owner we went to the Giant’s Causeway after it closed (it was free then and we didn't have to pay for parking). Walked down to the Causeway and climbed all over the place – so surreal; rocks sound hollow and are so intricately designed – very beautiful. Got some good pictures and walked back to the car – rain came right when we started walking back – got soaked but happy it didn’t rain while we were on the rocks! Got back to the B&B and had some fabulous tea while we dried off. |
