July 7th - Went to Dunbrody Heritage Ship – immigrants used ships like this to flee Ireland during the potato famine in the 1840s. Then we headed off to Tintern Abbey (inspired the William Wordsworth poem "Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey"). Very neat looking building. Next we drove to Tramore to hop on one foot around the Metal Man statue 3 times, but there isn't any way to get out to it – LAME! Apparently it's on private property - would've been nice if the travel guides would've mentioned that. Then we went to the Rock of Cashel - St. Patrick’s rock. First time to see awesome celtic crosses everywhere. There were a lot of high crosses there, so that was really neat to see. The weather was cold but the sun came out at times, lighting the green fields surrounding the hill. After that we headed back to our B&B (Oldtown Farmhouse) for some much needed rest. |
