This album is devoted to photos I have shot of flowers, and outdoor scenes in Palmdale and Lancaster - part of the Western Antelope Valley in Southern California. The California poppy is in bloom for only about two to four weeks (in late March and early April - depending upon weather conditions). I traveled from my Southern California home to see the poppy fields and other flora in the area. While the California poppy grows in many areas, the only LARGE fields, left in California, are in the Western Antelope Valley. For those of you familiar with Southern California - I live in Ojai (near the cities of Ventura and Santa Barbara. To familiarize you with the California Poppy, the first few pictures (close-ups) were shot in my garden in Ojai. The balance are taken in the Lancaster and Palmdale area. To reach the poppy fields, I traveld east on HWY 138 to the flower displays. I made a number of detours in the Lancaster and Palmdale area to find the best displays. Come join me now with a visit to the incredible poppy fields and other scenes. I promise you a great trip. CLICK ON A PHOTO TO ENLARGE AND TO READ THE DESCRIPTION.
