The San Pedro High School Pirate Booster Club hosted the 19th annual 2006 Football Kick-Off Dinner Banquet at the San Pedro High School lunch area on Thursday, August 31, 2006. The event was a tremendous success, starting at 6pm with a resounding singing of the National Anthem by 11-year-old Melissa Cuevas, daughter of Debbie Casteneda, SPHS teachers’ assistant. Tom Sinagra provided the spiritual motivation to the players as well as parents and the traditional blessing of the food.
Pirate Boosters organized and fed over 300 players and family members a varied menu of Pasta, Chicken, Pizza, salads and pastry, as well as Mexican entrees such as enchiladas, taquitos, mini burritos, rice and beans.
Coaches Brady Crouch and Mike Walsh briefed the families and friends on their respective programs and had the players introduce themselves to the crowd.
The San Pedro Pirate Boosters wishes to thank the Chamber of Commerce and all those merchants who donated food and pastries – Rafaelo’s, Neil’s, La Conga, Pronto’s, Enchilada House, Azteca, Vons on Gaffey St, Puritan, Ramona’s, Sandwich Saloon and Polly Ann Bakeries.
I would also like to personally thank all those who worked so hard to make this event the success it was. They are Teresa, Jackie, David, David Jr and Anita Trujillo, Xavier and Shirley Hermosillo, Anna and David Rodriguez, Vivian Pesic, Rino Marconi, Dan DeBenidictis, Chuck Hawley, Dennys Elsworth, Benny Esparza, Steve Aranda, Scott Carter, Greg Castro, Dominique Ma, Freddie Quintana, Debbie Casteneda and Melissa Cueva, Virginia Gonzales and our photographer Daniel Gallet and Rick Trujillo
