These pictures were taken during two separate visits to Costa Rica's Po�s Volcano (Volc�n Po�s) - April 2008 and April 2009.

Po�s Volcano (pronounced: poe-oss) is one of fifty volcanoes located in Costa Rica and the closest active volcano to the capital of San Jos� in the centrally located Alejuela Province.

The main Po�s Volcano crater containing Laguna Caliente is considered one of the largest active craters in the world � measuring over a mile wide and over 900 feet deep.

At an elevation of 2,708 metres (8,884 feet), Po�s Volcano offers a stunning view of the surrounding valleys full of lush vegetation, coffee farms (fincas), tropical plant farms and many cloud forest birds like; Hummingbirds, Tanagers, Flycatchers, Tucans, Clay-colored Robins and the Resplendent Quetzal.

Be sure to visit Parque Nacional Volc�n Po�s when your in Costa Rica's San Jos� central valley area.

I was suspicious when a G&T was the only think that could clear my head. The fever got worse and worse and racing around on a quad in the mid day heat didn't seem to help. The next day I couldn't get up, even to the latrine. The following day I was walked to a great clinic and within six hours Arthremeter had the parasite licked. Copyright 2005 Sheldon North
