Egypt - Aswan to Abu Simbel

The 3rd "leg" of the trip - we left the ship at Aswan and after exploring Aswan we joined the 4:30AM convoy to Abu Simbel (we arrived several minutes after the 4am convoy left).
(The P after the photo description means I used my 35mm not the digital. The K or M after a photo means it was taken by one of my travel companions)

Egypt - Alexandria

The 4th "leg of our trip - Alexandria - a very non-Egyptian Egyptian city. Even the air feels different - it may have something to do with the fact that it's on the sea rather than the river.

Egypt - The Sinai and Jordan - Petra

The last "leg" of the trip. A visit to Petra - "The Rose-Red City half as old as time". A fantastic place (although the buggy ride was a "bit" bone-jarring). I was dragged Backward! through the city - probably a mile. Definitely an adventure.
(The P after the photo description means I used my 35mm not the digital. The K after a photo means it was taken by my friend Kit)

Egypt - Luxor to Edfu

The 2nd let of our trip. The Valley of the Kings, and Queens, Karnak and Luxor Temples (Luxor Temple is right off the main street - amazing). And the cruise on the nile - definitely something everyone should do.

Egypt - Cairo, Giza, Saqqara, Memphis

The 1st "leg" of our trip - and our introduction to Egyptian traffic - it's horrendous (if cars didn't have horns Egyptians copuldn't drive!). But it's so fantastic getting up close and personal to the pyramids and the sphinx - that traffic is forgotten - and one travels back thousands of years. Even though the pryamids are out in the desert, they are in the middle of the city!

Cairo spice markets and magic carpets

Cairo will always be a chaotic city, but well worth the adventurer effort. Beware of the taxis and cheap food (splendid and healthy but you can really over eat if you are not careful :o)
