This picture, and the ones that follow were taken on the evening of Thursday, July 17, 2008. The lady in the foreground was celebrating her birthday at Pisco Seafood Bar & Grille in Coconut Grove this evening--and totally enjoying Joe Donato's music.

I just HAD to take this beautiful Colombian waitress's picture, standing outside the front door of the Pisco Seafood Bar and Grill on Mary Street in Coconut Grove. Her name is Ahopea, and she is from Cali--a city in Colombia known for beautiful Latin women. ("Las Cale�as" as they are referred to by the Colombian men.)

Unfortunately, because of the constraints of the very small space alloted to the musicians at the Pisco Seafood Bar and Grill in Coconut Grove, and the fact that the piano is behind the other players, it was very difficult to capture the image of Gorty Michael playing this evening--a fabulous keyboard player and vocalist.

This is one of my favorite pictures of Joe, which I took extremely up close of him playing his piccolo. (Joe also plays a variety of other wind instruments besides the saxophone and alto sax, not to mention the african nose flute, which I spoke about in my introduction to this album.)
